Mother Theresa's Prayer

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centred:
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives:
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies:
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you:
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight:
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous:
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow:
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough:
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and GOD:
It was never between you and them anyway.

Facebook is damaging relationships

Facebook Jealousy We already know that Facebook can be an incredible tool for building and strengthening friendships and relationships. We also know that it can be a relationship buster. And now, a recent study makes the claim that “increased Facebook use significantly predicts Facebook-related jealousy” in romantic relationships.

The study, published in the CyberPsychology & Behavior Journal, analyzed the effect of Facebook use on the romantic relationships of college students. The report concludes that there is a “significant association between time spent on Facebook and jealousy-related feelings and behaviors experienced on Facebook.”

Is Facebook destroying our relationships?

Saying Sorry

We all experience conflict - at work, in the family, the playground, our relationships. We've all over-reacted, or behaved in a way we later regretted and wished we could make redress for. Make Your Peace is your chance to do just that. It's a special campaign from Peace Direct marking the UN's International Day of Peace, 21 September, to help you do something positive and practical about conflict in your life.
There you are… you’re having a peaceful moment with your girlfriend engaging in meaningless conversation about an equally senseless issue when it comes out of nowhere to blindside you both: a fight so nasty that, after several rounds
of back-and-forth bickering, sends the two of you to your respective corners… banged up and badly bruised.

At first, your ego stands tall fueled by the fury of the recent event. There’s no way in hell you’re taking that initial step toward a resolution, you think to yourself. But like all matters involving conflict, time lends its healing hand here as well and before you know it… you’re feeling calm yet overwhelmed with guilt.

You want to make up with her but you’re clueless as to how you should proceed. You’re embarrassed and at a loss for words because deep down you know that saying “sorry” just ain’t gonna cut it.

So, if you’re finding yourself in this all-too-common situation let me offer you a simple approach that, when followed, virtually guarantees a swift recovery and you’ll soon be chalking up this fight to nothing more than a faint memory of the past.

It all boils down to 3 steps, so here they are… ( these pasted comments are from the internet and not mine )

Depending on the relationship and the seriousness of the fight this step might not be necessary. She might accept your apology from the get go and you can put this fight behind you. However, I’ve included it here to cover all possible ways this scenario can play itself out.

If your girlfriend doesn’t immediately make up with you after apologizing or even taking the full blame for the fight, your next move is to back off and let her know that you’ll wait for her to get in touch whenever she feels ready.

Under no circumstances should you push for a resolve. There’s nothing more counter-productive than trying to persuade an angry woman for a second chance… especially if she’s not ready to give it to you.

However, rest assured that, in time, she will forgive and forget. And if you’ve followed the instructions in here to the letter, she’ll also reward you in her own way for handling this fight in a mature fashion (let your imagination run wild with the latter ;)).

In conclusion, while this fight with your girlfriend may seem like the end of the world (with no possibility of coming to a resolution), rest assured that by taking a stepwise and calculated approach, this too will come to pass. And when it does, you’ll be happy to find yourself back where you started: enjoying the peaceful times with the girl you love.

Ethos Recycling sold after entering administration

Tuesday 09 March 2010 Waste Management News
Uxbridge-based recycling firm Ethos Recycling has been sold less than two weeks after entering administration.
Uxbrigde-based Ethos Recycling was formerly known as Sweeney
Environmental
Uxbrigde-based Ethos Recycling was formerly known as Sweeney Environmental
Administrator Pitman Cohen LLP, which is based in West London, confirmed today (March 9 2010) to letsrecycle.com that the company was placed into administration on February 25 but has since been sold to Ethos Environmental Management Limited, which has a number of similar shareholders.Ethos Recycling had operated from its base in Uxbridge and has promoted itself as delivering a high rate of recycling from the material it collected.
In January 2008, Ethos - formerly Sweeney Environmental - took on a project being developed in Avonmouth under Defra's £30 million New Technologies Demonstrator Project, which was launched in 2003 to showcase new waste treatment methods.
Ethos purchased the project after the firm originally set to develop the pyrolysis with gasification plant, Compact Power, entered administration in September 2007 (see letsrecycle.com story). Ethos was also pledged the grant money to be issued to Compact by Defra and originally stated for the project as being £5 million.
However, Ethos withdrew from the project without completing the requisite number of operational hours before the deadline for the Project's report stage on March 31 2009 (see letsrecycle.com story).
Ethos was unavailable for comment.
As an Ex-Employee of this company I might add that they didnt pay the staff that they laid off and even under the new company they are still not paying the staff on time.
I phoned every day for over a month asking when I was going to get my final salary payment and redundancy pay, only to be told it was coming soon..I now have to claim the money through the govenment and will get a fraction of what I am owed.
If you are reading this and have any intention of doing business with the directors ot the new company, I would not give credit as you are unlikely to ever get paid.. the company had a bad payment record even when they were trading.. In my 40+ years of working I have never been treated so badly or been lied to so much.

Types of Sleep Disorders

Types of Sleep Disorders

types of sleep disorders awake at night
Sleep disorders are a highly common medical issue that affects millions of Americans each year. While some people suffer from mild sleeping problems, such as the occasional nightmare, others have extremely severe sleep disorders that can negatively affect their health if left untreated.

In fact, 95 percent of people suffering from a sleep disorder remain undiagnosed. This staggering number means that a huge number of people aren’t getting the treatment they need, putting them in danger of permanently damaging their health.

Maintaining good health in today’s society often depends upon just how well your health insurance coverage applies to your lifestyle and needs. A little effort can save you a lot of money…compare the offers of several health insurance programs and choose the one that’s best for you.
In this section, we will outline and examine various types of sleep disorders. Our articles discuss everything from the causes and effects of sleep deprivation to the prevalence of sleep disorders in women and children. Read on to learn more about different types of sleep disorders.

Lack of Sleep

At some point in life, you are likely to suffer from lack of sleep. However, while your lifestyle, work demands and family responsibilities may keep you from getting the sleep you need, a chronic lack of sleep can trigger the development of serious conditions, including heart disease, depression and hypertension. Common symptoms of lack of sleep include fatigue, blurry vision and irritability.

Keep reading to learn more about the various causes and effects of sleep deprivation.

Excessive Sleep

Although many people suffer from sleep disorders that prevent them from falling and staying asleep, a select group of people actually get too much sleep. Known in medical circles as hypersomnia, excessive sleep is clinically defined as getting more than 10 hours of sleep per night and still experiencing daytime drowsiness.

While the particular causes of excessive sleep vary with each individual case, in most instances, treatment for this type of sleep disorder involves making some lifestyle changes. Read on to learn more about the causes of and treatments for excessive sleep.

Disrupted Sleep

Any condition in which your sleep doesn’t follow the typical sleep phase cycle or doesn’t stay in one or more cycles for long enough is a disrupted sleep disorder. Those who have disrupted sleep tend to not only get less sleep but also to not experience as deep of sleep. Unfortunately, this often means that these individuals don’t reach the levels of sleep necessary to be considered “restorative sleep.”

Keep reading to learn more about the causes, symptoms and treatments for disrupted sleep.

Kids & Sleep Disorders

Diagnosing and treating sleep disorders in children is particularly difficult because kids not only tend to be less likely to accurately describe their symptoms but they also suffer from different symptoms, depending on their particular sleeping problem. Similarly, children are more likely to suffer from sleeping problems that don’t affect adults, making it hard for some parents to even recognize that their children have a sleep disorder.

Some of the common sleep disorders that affect children include night terrors, nightmares and bedwetting. Read on to learn more about the causes of and treatments for sleep disorders in children.

Women & Sleep

Women are twice as likely than men to suffer from sleep disorders. Approximately 30 percent of employed women suffer from sleep conditions. Although menopausal and pregnant women are far more likely to suffer from a sleep disorder (mainly due to the dramatic hormonal changes each of these experiences), all women are, in fact, two times more likely than men to experience a sleep disorder.

To whom it may concern:

I phoned my Ex-employer Ethos Recycling Ltd. every day for over a month to be told I would be paid and perhaps tomorrow?
I have had no wages since December and was made redundant on the 14th January 2010
I dont wish to sound too bitter but the truth is, I have been lied to along with many other employees. My many emails and texts have not been acknoweldeged by the M.D. of the company Mr Jenner. If you intend to do any business with the management of the new company, I suggest you ask for payment in advance.
If the New Directors would like to sue me for slander, please go ahead and prove to me  and others that all that I have just said is not true.. I

Below is the email I have just received from the Administrator:

Dear Mr Farey

I have been advised that you have telephoned this office on a number of occasions in respect of the above named Company. I am sorry that I am unable to assist you too far in your enquiries but my instructions only came on the 25th February to act as Administrator and prior to that, whilst I was assisting the Directors, I did not have anything to do with the day to day management of the Company and nor was I involved in the finances of the Company.

I understand not only from yourself but from others that some 15 or 20 members of staff were dismissed before the end of January but that the Company did not have sufficient funds to deal with their claims for termination of employment, redundancy if applicable, money in lieu of notice and holiday pay.

A formal letter from this office will be despatched tomorrow enclosing form RP1 and details of how to make a claim in respect of your arrears of income and any other rights to which you may be entitled.

I am sorry that I cannot be more positive in my information and that I cannot assist you further.

Yours sincerely
S Cohen

Seal in the water seen at Lewes

Another view of the seal sighting at Lewes

Lewes Seal Sighting

Closer view of this wonderful sighting on the River Ouse at Lewes in Sussex

Seal sighting on Saturday 2nd Jan 2010 Lewes, Sussex

I spotted this seal and was very fortunate to have my camera with me while out yesterday in Lewes. This seal was seen sunbathing in a pontoon on the river Ouse, Sussex.
He/she was there for some time and was posing for photos. The seal was drawing quite a crowd.
Below is an article written last year about similar sightings?

Published Date: 28 October 2009
THE Herald last week featured two readers' pictures of a seal spotted in the River Adur.
Stephen Savage, Sussex county recorder for sea mammals, is currently taking part in a project to tag seals and contacted us with more information about the sighting.

"It was great to see the common seal picture in the Shoreham Herald, as it highlights the presence of these beautiful animals locally and people will know to keep an eye out for them," said Mr Savage.

He explained seals were quite at home in estuaries and had been known to swim several miles inland.

He said he had received seal sightings in the rivers Arun, Adur and Ouse every year.

"While common seals are present off our coast in small numbers for most of the year, they are more frequently observed locally in the winter months," he said.

"It is quite possible that there are only one or two seals that travel up river and the seal pictured in last week's Herald looks like it may be the same seal we observed in the River Ouse in January last year."

Mr Savage said there had been three other reports of seals in October – one in the River Arun, one in the River Ouse and one outside Brighton Marina.

Individual seals can be recognised by a spotted pattern on their fur unique to each animal, but their numbers are in decline.

Anyone who spots a seal can email stevep.savage@ntlworld.com or call 07773 610036.
